The story of the Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is based on the Oscar-winning animation of the same name.
Unlike a regular book from the iBookstore, you can freely interact with the story using the iPad screen. The reader progress through the book, interacting with the animations by drawing, solving puzzles and even playing the piano. Younger pupils will thoroughly enjoy the experience but will need help with some of the trickier words. Whilst older pupils shouldn’t have any issues, they can always check the definition of a word in the dictionary.
The Fantastic Flying Books is a great app for reluctant readers who need that little bit of encouragement to pick up a book. The animation and text together is a really great combination that will hopefully spark some story ideas for pupils. It’s fun, it’s clever and it’s an absolute joy to read through.
