On first look of the Paper Fox, you’ll notice how brilliantly the app is put together. All of the artwork and design in the app was created by computer to look like it’s been crafted with paper.
The app is free to download and with that you get the first two chapters of the book. However the whole story will set you back a reasonable £2.99 (via in-app purchase).
The story follows the life of the Paper Fox, exploring an enchanted land that is constantly struck by earthquakes. On his travels he meets a number of other characters, collects objects and solves puzzles. The story has built-in narration which you can turn off if you’d like to read the book yourself or go at your own pace. Even though the app is aimed at younger readers, there are some tricky words used. However we don’t mind this at all as it helps children improve their vocabulary.
As we mentioned before, the app is really well-made — almost to the standard of a children’s TV show. We can only hope for more story book apps in the future to be of this high quality.
